It almost seems as if it were meant to be.
Monday Jan. 29, 2018, it was released that the award winning actor is being tapped to portray the famous, lovable Mr. Rogers in an upcoming biopic titled “You are my friend”.
The film’s story is being influenced by the real life friendship between Rogers and journalist Tom Junod. “This is the perfect alchemy of talent coming together at the perfect time to remind us all of the transformative power of kindness and respect to heal and to unite,” said Hannah Minghella, President of TriStar Pictures in Monday’s announcement.
“The script knocked me out with its message of kindness and its exploration of the human spirit. As a mother, I am so inspired by the teachings of Fred Rogers and as a human I am in awe of his life’s work.” Said the film’s director Marielle Heller.
A release date has not been set as of yet but production is slated to begin this fall.
